  1. Maintenance Mode - Don't force a reboot

When maintenance mode is disabled the server needs to reboot in order to return to normal use. With the improvements in v6.1 you should be able to exit maintenance mode without requiring a reboot and run the initial boot scripts.

  2. Implement existing "Boot from CD" button for SmartServer's

If we create SmartServer from ISO (not template) there is no possibility to disable booting from ISO. Every reboot of SmartServer is boot from ISO.

Click on "Boot from CD" button on SmartServers page does not cause an action, like in VirtualServer.

Same steps applied for VirtualServer cause a change in booting order.

Current solution for disable iso boot is manual change in the database.

  3. Support for 4Kn sector size HDD drives natively for static HVs

Currently, OnApp does not support 4Kn sector size HDD drives for Static Hypervisors, and we need to do a workaround for OnApp to use 4Kn sector size drives.

This workaround is to have the OS detect the drive via local ISCSI.

This has major drawbacks that affect production systems which are

    1. Degrades IOPS
    2. ISCSI links get overloaded too often causing the Hypervisor to hang all virtual machines, dropping the storage links.
    3. IO is very expensive, this method degrades it more

Hope OnApp supports this so we can let go of using ISCSI for local storage just to…

  4. Make Smart Servers Smart

Smart Servers as things stand, aren't really that smart. They are barely different from Bare Metal servers in any useful sense.

When deploying Smart Servers we should have the option of using NIC passthrough or not. If we chose not to use it, then we should retain the very useful features of Firewall and bandwidth monitoring.

Without this it becomes very tedious to monitor bandwidth over a fleet of Smart Servers - we'd have to monitor when a machine changes HV, change the mapping of switch port to server in our billing platform (taking in to account the bandwidth already…

  5. Add Smart server support to WHMCS module

Smart servers aren't supported on the WHMCS module - for a provider selling both this causes issues with UX.

  6. Relative links for VM resources

It would be good to be able to specify relative links for VM resources per server - to avoid allowing customers to build servers with almost no cpu but purchase all the ram available on that compute resource for example. I could try and use min/max but it is per zone and per user so there is no way to do it per virtual server.

  7. Smart Server deployment should have the option to skip the VM deployment wizard

You should be able to disable deploying smart servers as VMs by the end user, otherwise they could choose to create a tiny smart server that takes up a whole Hypervisor. Better to simply deploy to the entire HV and have a setting where the admin can reserve an amount for future expansion as a defult setting if they wish.

  8. Add OPNsense template

OPNsense is a fork of pfSense (which is already available as a template in OnApp). Many of our customers would love to use OPNsense within OnApp.
    See https://opnsense.org for details.

  9. Allow sellers to move non-federated VMs between local federated zones using cloud motion.

It would be useful to be able to utilize the existing Cloud Motion feature to migrate internal VMs between different locations in OnApp.

  10. retry when backups failed

I would like on the OnApp Cloud platform, when a backup fails (sometimes by timeout), you can retry the backup, because when you have many clients with VPS, the backup must be manually executed (not waiting until the next scheduled one will be taken).

    Thank you.

  11. Adding multiple IP

Adding multiple IP at the same time, either by selecting more than one or just selecting the number you want to add would be a great addition, as many times we need to add large number of IP's and it's very time consuming and cumbersome

  12. Edit and rename disk label after creation.

It would be really good to edit and rename disk label for already created disks. We had an issue where disks had the same size, labels and customer was confused so we were wondering if this is possible but unfortunately not yet. It would be nice to have it implemented in the future.

Hello. I would like to inform you that OnApp allows you to edit a disk label after the disk is created on Xen/KVM virtualization.
It might not be possible to edit a disk label on virtual machines that are built from OVA on VMware virtualization.
Could you please provide more information about an environment where your customer was not able to edit a disk label?

  13. Add API request Get List of IP Addresses User

Please add api request "Get List of IP Addresses User" for get all ip in User Pool
now present only "Assign IP Address to User" and "Unassign IP Address from User"

  14. Make default port speed configurable.

Currently, the default port speed defaults to 1mpbs. This causes a lot of problems with users who skip configuring this. It would be helpful if we could set the default to a high number.

  15. Usage Statistics - Virtual Server Name in Save as CSV

On the Usage Statistics page for a user - https://portal.4d-cloud.com/usage_statistics – the Save as CSV is a really useful function. However, the CSV gives you the unique ID as opposed to the virtual server name, which from a customer perspective isn’t much use as they can’t easily tie that back to anything they know about.

  16. Permission Logs for change/create/delete operations

None of the Role changes, use permission updates are logged.

There is an audit log table but it is not functional.

    example scenarios:
    * Any intruder can create a user than create some VMs and give permissions to the VM's and than delete itself again.. and no-one can track what happened how these machines are created who give the permissions ..
    * If you by mistake change something on roles and would like to revert your change back there is no possibility
    * if someone will say "Add my SSH keys to all" on the role, for some time and…

  17. Billing Statistics for User Discounts

Currently you are able to view detailed billing statistics per VM, but when viewing a user's profile it is difficult to identify the billing details for the user.

The /users/$ID/user_statistics page shows some good information on billing for backups, templates, etc. but does not provide any details on free amount for virtual server resources.

In particular, it would be useful if the "Discount due to free" total was able to show what particular resources contributed to this free amount and how the number is calculated.

Depending on how the bucket is configured this free amount could be a collection of…

  19. Optional serial console instead of only noVNC

Currently the only method of viewing a VS console on the CP server is via the graphical based noVNC provided. This is even if the VS will never run a graphical environment such as X11 or Wayland for it's entire use.

It would be nice if OnApp enabled serial console kernel options in the provided templates and offered the option to use a javascript based serial terminal. This would have huge advantages over noVNC when fixing issues over a high latency or low bandwidth location such as in an area with poor cellular data coverage.

  20. Ability to select GRUB entries from CP server

Usually for every attempt to start a VS based on a Linux distribution template, OnApp uses pygrub to alway boot the default grub menu option. It would be nice if from the CP server the user had the option to choose previous kernel entries in the grub menu.

With how OnApp currently works, selecting previous grub menu items requires a lengthy process booting into rescue image and manually changing the grub.conf.
