File Level Restores from Backups
So currently in order to restore a single file, or a directory, or have access to the files is to convert a backup to a template, and then provision that template.
I know there are plugins for R1Soft, and Veeam, but both of these solutions are incredibly expensive, and over all require a lot more infrastructure, and require backups to be done over the public network, or a seperate network for backups only.
If we are able to do backups using massive Storage networks that most of us have built out, then we offload a lot of this to the current OnApp backup function.
So idealy it would be nice to just be able to dive down into the file system, and be able to get a restore link, or even be able to download those files/directory in a tar file or a zip or something.
1. Backup using OnApp Backup function.
2. Being able to restore files on that backup.
3. Would be nice to be able to restore directly to the VM, but would be happy with getting a restore link from the ctl server, or being able to download the files VIA zip/tar file.
This about sums it up, I do not think this would be incredibly difficult to deal with. I mean once you convert a backup to a template, you can untar the template and get access to the file structure, which is how we currently deal with it.
Would be awesome to see native functionality.
